People who are gay are probably just doing it for Internet attention or are mentally retarded.

Hi. Let me tell you a story. For three years of my high school life, I had a crush on my best friend. I was brought up in a good Southern Baptist family who taught me that being gay was a terrible sin, so all the time I had a crush on this girl I told myself that I just really valued her as a friend. And then one day she suggested we start dating. I wanted that more than anything. But I definitely wasn't gay. So I told her yes, but assured her that neither one of us was a lesbian because of it. We just happened to be two girls who loved each other. That was all it was. We dated in secret for six or seven months before she dumped me because she was afraid of being discovered by her family. It destroyed me. I became suicidal. But I wasn't gay. I definitely wasn't gay. I did eventually pick up the pieces and start moving forward again. I started college. My parents became concerned because I'd never had a boyfriend, so I started dating guys to please them. I told the guys at the beginning of the relationship that I had no interest in having sex with them. Many left right then and there. One stayed with me and even proposed to me. But as much as I knew he loved me and would take good care of me, I didn't love him. I broke up with him and spiraled into another depression, wondering what in the world was wrong with me. And then I remembered that I had fallen in love with a girl. But I couldn't be gay, could I? My good friend gently encouraged me to really think about it, to put away my Southern Baptist filter of "everything gay is evil". So I did. And then I finally accepted myself. I now have a beautiful girlfriend who loves me dearly and whose love I can return in full. That is my experience with being gay. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and have a wonderful life.

I really like this photo.
Although the technique/skill is not that good, the photo itself can be seen as a great piece of work. It is slightly ironic, humorous and generally has a striking message! You were there at the right moment and captured so much emotion, creating a picture so much background.
Good job :)

Homophobes Likely To Be Closet Gays, Study Finds.

Negative attitude towards homosexuality is likely to be more pronounced among individuals who harbor unacknowledged attraction towards the same sex, and who grew up in conservative authoritarian households which forbade such desires, a series of psychology studies have found.

The study, which analyzed four separate experiments conducted in the US and Germany, provides empirical evidence to suggest that in some individuals homophobia is the external manifestation of repressed sexual desires they feel towards their own gender.

Individuals who identify as straight but in psychological tests show a strong attraction to the same sex may be threatened by gays and lesbians because homosexuals remind them of similar tendencies within themselves, Netta Weinstein, a lecturer at the University of Essex and the study's lead author, explained.

In many cases these are people who are at war with themselves and they are turning this internal conflict outward, added co-author Richard Ryan, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester who was involved in the study, in which about 650 college students participated.

The researchers said it may not be just a coincidence that several vehemently homophobic public figures are often caught engaging in homosexual acts. They cited examples of Ted Haggard, the evangelical preacher who opposed gay marriage but was exposed in a gay sex scandal in 2006 and Glenn Murphy, Jr., the former chairman of the Young Republican National Federation and vocal opponent of gay marriage, who was accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old man in 2007.

We laugh at or make fun of such blatant hypocrisy, but in a real way, these people may often themselves be victims of repression and experience exaggerated feelings of threat, Ryan said. Homophobia is not a laughing matter. It can sometimes have tragic consequences, he said, pointing to cases such as the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard or the 2011 shooting of Larry King.

The implicit and explicit sexual orientations of participants were measured by how they reacted to words, and images with sexual associations, during a split-second timed task.

Students were shown connotative words, and pictures of straight and gay couples, while the computer tracked precisely the time they took to respond. They were also asked to agree or disagree on statements like, I felt controlled and pressured in certain ways, and I felt free to be who I am, to measure how democratic or authoritarian their parents were. For studying the level of homophobia in a household, participants responded statements like, It would be upsetting for my mom to find out she was alone with a lesbian or My dad avoids gay men whenever possible.

Subjects, who said they were heterosexual, but reported homosexual tendencies during tasks, were more likely to be hostile to gays, the study found.

In an earlier study, conducted by the Department of Psychology, University of Georgia in 1996, it was found that homophobia is associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

The findings of the study conducted by a team from the University of Rochester, the University of Essex, England, and the University of California in Santa Barbara, will be published in the April issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

Coming from a religious person (myself), God is nothing like that. I hate it when people like him completely ignore what it really means to be a Christian. It's embarrassing and leaves a bad view of Christians for other people. (Also I don't know why I'm replying to a comment posted a year ago...)

Yes, thinking is really obscure these days. That's why morality is going down, crime ratings are going through the roofs and there's nothing that can be done about it.

You know, it's funny, I just started college and one of the first things they taught us in my advanced Criminology courses was not to believe the media's portrayal of crime, as it's often the direct opposite of the real statistics. But I guess your education never got that far, huh? <3
Oh, yeah, and my Sociology course taught us to question the functionalist worldview presented to the masses by fear-mongering, progress-phobic, stuck-in-the-past capitalists, but I guess you never learned about that either.
There is something 'that can be done about it', by the way: teach people like you to live in the 21st century, and stop hating what you don't understand simply because you're not smart enough to understand it - and stop believing everything that sensationalist mainstream media tells you.
You have a lovely day, now.

Big, bad libtard at its finest. Sure, I don't study criminology, so I'm uneducated. You're simply too stupid to understand that you're the puppet of media, not me. You believe everything they told you, because 21th century. That's the only argument you got, 21th century. No facts, just the fact that you praise modern times. You don't have the slightest clue how to think on your own. I'm not afraid of progress. But we're not making any. And this whole big bad capitalists thing is so ridiculous. You're a living stereotype. Nothing more. Have a good day, stereotype.

I never understand why people like the guy wearing the sandwich board exist. If those things are sins, then let God himself deal with t. It has nothing to do with him, so why worry about what other people do behind closed doors, unless it's something genuinely awful like child trafficing, murder, slave labor, or dealing drugs like heroine or meth. Those are evil. But adultry? Liars? Cursers? Porno viewers? Let God deal with that himself. It's not our job to judge or deal out punishments. Leave people like that alone. It's not like it's a disease. You can't just catch sin, it's always with you, but so long as you keep a steady mind and rely on your own morals, you're fine. But just please, let other people live their lives. It's not your place to say who is going to hell and who is not. That power lies strictly with God.

I again do not defend the individual with the placard.

I strongly disagree with you about God doing anything to deal with it. Other people affect every one around them whether you accept that or not. As long as there are gay pride parades there will be religious zealots protesting. People on both sides are not just, "letting people live their lives". Many of us do not believe in God just coming down and intervening in anyones life when they have a problem. Some of us believe that there are good people and/or spirits who can help those in need, religion can actually help those who choose to be involved in it, it's VERY rare that any Elohim close to God would be allowed to help, and he never will. Actually, many of us believe the power has little to do with God. Hell is the way we perceive it when we die. We also do not believe in the Buddhist or Christian hells either.

I meant when we die. And I also meant that since they are religious, then they should just let God deal with it.

What do you believe happens when a person dies?

The quandary develops when someone with a message and some cohunes wants to get that information out to save others from their purgatory when they pass on. Maybe he feels powerless enough to actually strap a sign on and go walk the street with it. I'm assuming he's believing Jesus has told him to go forth and give out the Lords teachings to the unwashed heathen masses. Oh ok, maybe I'm defending him some, but only for the moment.

I think once you get past transgender bisexual there's a lot of Quizzical Questions About Inventive Genders 2 complicated for straight people to understand. You'll just give yourself a headache trying to. Just be glad you're gay or bi. Just think of the issues asexual people without gender identities have to deal with. Unless you're one of them or have a friend who is it's better for our mental health not to contemplate these things.

I say, be tolerant and thankful.
